2022 AIR

Announcing Cultivarte Laredo’s 2022 Artists-in-Residence (AIR)!

This year, our 2022 AIR Cohort consists of 6 unique artists working in multiple disciplines in two of our residency programs; our virtual artist-in-residency V-AiR which supports 4 artists remotely, and C-Studio Residency, a studio residency that gives 2 artists access to free space to create artwork.

2022 V-AiR Artists

Diego Canales - Illustration
Houston, Texas

Karla Gabriela De La Fuente - Assemblage
Mission, Texas

Erika Ordoñez - Mixed Media + Text
Laredo, Texas

Itzel Vilches - Printmaking + Animation
San Antonio, Texas

Through V-AiR, Cultivarte Laredo will create a meaningful, remote residency experience for these 4 artists during a 3-month period. Artists will receive a $1,250. stipend so they can create new artwork and connect with a virtual audience for a culminating AIR Group Exhibition scheduled for the fall 2022.

V-AiR Artists will gain exposure, make connections with the greater South Texas community and provide an alternative platform to meaningfully expand ideas about their creative and artistic process.

2022 C-Studio Artists

Nansi Guevara - Media Narratives

Brownsville, Texas

Nestor - Composed Configurations

Laredo, Texas

C-Studio Residency will allow these two artists the opportunity to create work independently in a shared studio space located in the heart of downtown Laredo at the Laredo Center for the Arts. Here they will have time to focus and reflect upon and develop ideas outside of their usual space/s to share with a greater arts community.

This year, we received applications from a diverse group of talented artists working in all media. The skills, concepts, and styles of artwork presented made the selection process a difficult task for our Selection Committee. Our jurors were Debbie Goldberg (Artist + Educator; Laredo, TX), Hector Hernandez (Artist; Austin, TX), and Marcela Morán (Artist + Educator; Laredo, TX).

Congratulations to all the artists! We look forward to see how your ideas and artwork develops in the next three months.
