Art Panel at TAMIU
Texas A&M International University’s Department of Fine and Performing Arts hosted an art panel discussion “Strategies to Maintain an Art Practice Upon Graduation” on Thursday, March 24.
The panel featured Cultivarte Laredo’s executive director and artist Maritza Bautista and the 2021 V-AiR Artists Alexa Hernandez (ceramics), Juan de Dios Mora (printmaking), Krista Quintanilla (painting) and Victoria Márquez (painting).
The artists had a meaningful exchange with the audience of students and faculty about their experiences after graduation and how they maintained their practice without the resources a university provides. They also shared experiences and ideas about how to engage and create opportunities within their immediate communities as artists, and the importance of building and maintaining a network with other artists and arts professionals.
