About the Cultivarte Studio Residency
Known as C-Studio, our Studio Residency is designed to contribute to the professional and artistic growth of selected artists. This year, Cultivarte Laredo will select four (4) artists.
The residency commences with an application process in which applications are evaluated and selected by a committee composed of artists, educators and other creative professionals.
The application process is open to artists who live and work in Laredo, Texas. Artists will be reviewed and selected by a jury composed of Cultivarte Laredo and other creative professionals based on quality, presentation, as well as artists’ ability to outline their vision on how they want to develop their artwork during the residency.
Artists must be willing to:
Demonstrate a commitment to a focused development of their creative process
Share their vision to explore, develop, and create new artwork
Work in a shared studio space and participate in constructive critique throughout the process
Selected C-Studio Artists are each granted a supportive stipend and get access to a free, shared studio space over a two-month period, conducive to the focused production of artwork. Selected artists will work independently, outside of their usual space/s, and will have the time to reflect upon and develop ideas under the guidance of a mentor and other artists, to share with the Laredo arts community.
Open to artists working in all media (visual, performance, media, etc.) living in Laredo, Texas who are interested in exploring and expanding their work in a stimulating and nurturing environment.
The Cultivarte Studio Residency is the first of its kind in our South Texas region. It is offered in partnership with the Laredo Center for the Arts, and is supported by the Lamar Bruni Vergara Trust.
