C-STUDIO CALL FOR PROPOSALS
Cultivarte Laredo’s first ever studio residency call for proposals is NOW OPEN!
We invite Fine Artists to submit proposals for our new program C-Studio Residency. This studio residency gives two selected artists the opportunity to create work independently in a shared studio space, outside of their usual space/s, and provide time to reflect upon and develop ideas to share with the Laredo arts community.
This call is open to emergent, mid-level, and established artists living and working in Laredo, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity for artists to create work in larger scale (i.e. sculpture or painting). Applicants should be at least 18 years of age.
C-STUDIO OVERVIEW
Call for proposals is open from Feb. 1 - Mar. 19, 2022.
Proposals include a description of current or proposed body of work.
Artists are selected by committee of jurors (March 2022).
This program supports two Fine Artists.
Selected C-Studio Artists get access to a shared studio space (Classroom Casita) located at the Laredo Center for the Arts in the heart of downtown Laredo.
Artists are granted a $300 stipend.
C-Studio Residency is a 3 month residency (April-June).
Selected artists participation in a virtual artist talk (Summer 2022).
C-Studio Artists participate in a AIR group exhibition (Fall 2022).

Application Period: Tuesday, February 1, 2022 to Saturday, March 19, 2022

PROPOSALS MUST INCLUDE
A description of the artwork you would like to create. This can be new work, or a series in progress.
Artist Statement.
Artist Bio.
Artist Portfolio. Submit 10-15 original work samples of work created within the past two years.
Image list with dimensions, medium, and date.
Artist résumé or CV with contact information.
List of 2 references with contact information.
SUPPORT
Cultivarte Laredo will offer support to the selected C-Studio Artists in the following ways:
Provide access to a shared studio space to use free of charge.
Grant a $300 stipend. The payment will be in 2 installments with $150 upon acceptance and the remainder upon completion of the residency.
Weekly studio visits from lead staff.
Monthly meetings with other AIR artists for peer feedback + critique.
Host a group exhibition featuring the artwork created by the 2022 V-AiR and C-Studio residents.
C-STUDIO ARTIST EXPECTATIONS
Complete a three-month residency (April-June).
Ability to complete remote work prior to beginning the residency (planning, production, virtual meetings with Cultivarte staff, etc.).
Attendance at a virtual meet-and-greet with Cultivarte lead staff and other artists-in-residence.
Make efforts to engage with other Cultivarte Laredo programming and by participating in monthly critiques in community with other AIR Artists.
Participate in weekly check-ins with the program director.
Commit to present artwork created during the residency.
Actively document and share your residency experience on social media, blog posts, website, videos, photos, etc. and tag @cultivarte.laredo.
Artists will be held accountable for their use of time and progress.
In-person attendance at the opening reception for the AIR Group Exhibition (Fall 2022).
